Ans: The procedure is carried out under topical anaesthesia which means that eye drops are used to anaesthetize the eye. Once anaesthetised, there is no pain sensation. However, there can be some touch and pressure sensation felt.

Ans: The procedure of LASIK is meant to give spectacle independence. It is meant for lifelong, however with passing years a small percentage of patients may see some power coming back. The percentage of these patients is very low. And if it does come back, it is a minor power.

What tests are done before Lasik?
Ans: Before LASIK a complete evaluation is done for cornea (in the line back portion of the eye on which LASIK is performed). This is done using an investigation called corneal topography which measure the thickness of cornea as well as the shape and irregularities to decide if LASIK is safe or not and to decide on the type of procedure to be done. A dilated examination is also done to find the exact power of glasses as well as to check the retina (back portion of eye) for any weak areas.
